This is the section where I tell you about myself. I'll get started by telling you a little about me personally. I was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. I grew up here and have lived here all of my life. I went to Pellissippi State Technical Community College I have continued my education with the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and am just a few classes short of a Bachelor's Degree. I have the education and experience, I simply desire to have my Master's Degree, so that may have a better chance at teaching at a university one day. I have a lovely wife named Kristin, who is an exceptional photographer. Together, we have a beautiful daughter named Phoebe. She makes me proud every single day. We have a house and two very interesting dogs. Believe me, there is never a dull moment in our home.
I have a degree is Graphic design, which is focussed in print, but I have since then acquired the knowledge and understanding to build websites. I don't use any certain program, I use whatever is most efficient and whatever gets the job done. I have been doing freelance work off and on now for about 5 years. I do it for supplemental income, but would like to get to where all of my income derives solely from freelance work. I am very passionate about design and I conduct my own independent studies on design theory, as well as try to learn new techniques. I am never satisfied with how I am currently as a designer. I believe it is essential to adapt and grow with my industry, culture and surroundings. I never want to just stand still.
I have earned plenty of experience over the past few years. It all started with an internship at a small design firm here in Knoxville. I worked on various projects for them, including album art, and putting together a huge catalog of items for the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. When I left there, I did some freelance work for a few clients here and there, including logo design, business cards, a letterhead, and a website for a heating and air company, and a creative site for a professional writer who was very maticulous on how he wanted every page to look. He was my favorite, because he had a vision, and he needed and trusted me to execute it. I've worked on tons of other odds and end design jobs. There isn't much that I can't do or figure out. I have been an in-house designer for 3 years now, and have been enjoying it. This all makes me a well-rounded designer, because I have experience in freelancing, inhouse design, a dash of marketing, branding, corporate identity and much more.
